Job Description
Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for manufacturing support, supply chain support and configuration management engineering activities.  These activities include:
  • Manufacturing – Support of the manufacturing floor: personnel; equipment; and processes.
  • Supply Chain - Supplier interfacing, supplier capability assessment, supplier technical problem resolution, component end of life resolution, and supply chain cost reductions achieved through standardization and product design.
  • Configuration Control – Engineering documentation creation, engineering change control representation, CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and product data management system administration.

Essential Functions:
  • Analyzes current and future designs for standardization and cost reduction and makes recommendations to product development.
  • Develops problem solving techniques to determine root causes for problems, proposes solutions, and performs validations.
  • Reviews, analyzes and tests to ensure the success of assigned projects.
  • Participates in reviewing functional specifications, cost targets, and mechanical design requirements.
  • Participates in the engineering change control process.
  • Works with external suppliers, to reduce supply chain costs.
  • Assists product development with engineering document creation.
  • Investigates and solves reported manufacturing and supply chain issues.
  • Interfaces with off-shore suppliers to acquire parts needed for service.
  • May serve as a hardware team leader on small sized projects, coordinating requirements, schedules and budgets; provides project leader with status update.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of hand tools and mechanical assembly.

Education and Experience:
This position requires training in fields such as mechanical/manufacturing engineering or technology or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor’s degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education; normally requires a minimum of two (2) to five (5) years directly related and progressively responsible related experience.
