Position Purpose:

The Sr. Director of Internal Communications serves as a trusted leader for connecting with team members across a wide range of teams, roles, and geographies, through engaging, employee-centric communications. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, this individual will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy, planning, and production of all internal communications globally, ensuring strategies and content are of the highest standards, on brand, and appropriate to audience and context. This individual will infuse a storytelling mentality into the internal communications of the organization by leading the planning, development, and execution of a content strategy that helps advance employee engagement, culture, and alignment to the company's mission, vision, and brand promise.

Key Job Activities:

* Building and leading a high-impact team of two internal communications associates, including coaching, development, and performance management
* Partnering with external communications counterparts and other key functions to effectively align storytelling across all internal and external audiences.
* Counseling senior leadership and business partners across all departmental functions (i.e. HR, IT, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc) on communication strategies and execution, recommending innovative ways to better inform and engage team members while also connecting core initiatives to the company's mission, vision, values, and brand narrative.
* Managing the day-to-day creation, scheduling, and posting of content in email and on the company's internal website. This includes understanding news value, overseeing the editorial calendar, and technical capabilities of various communication platforms as well as authoring content.
* Establishing discipline around measurement and reporting outcomes, setting, and measuring against KPIs to inform decision making, and measure success.
* Continuously assessing and optimizing existing channels and tools for Internal Communications to strengthen all team members' understanding of company strategy and culture, while also spearheading the exploration of new and innovative technologies to reach and engage a diverse range of connected and front-line internal audiences;
* Owning the annual internal communications survey process, including reviewing questions, promoting participation, analyzing results, sharing findings with senior leadership, and implementing recommendations.
* Managing and participating in the planning of certain high-profile monthly, quarterly, and annual company meetings and special events, including the preparation of agendas, presentations, and related content.
* Maintaining standardized processes and ways of working to enhance collaboration, productivity, and innovation across workstreams.
* Performing other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Education:

* A Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or journalism or equivalent work experience.
* A minimum of ten (10) years of experience developing and implementing effective, innovative, and strategic global internal communications programs in support of employee engagement, business priorities, and culture as well as a track record of delivering strong, measurable results.
* At least five (5) years of experience in a management role leading high-performing teams within a complex and highly regulated industry and for a publicly traded company.
* Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills with keen attention to detail across all tasks and deliverables.
* Demonstrated ability to think strategically, creatively, and innovatively while also acting tactically to accomplish key goals.
* Strong record of developing successful global communication strategies and writing compelling content for multiple internal communication channels and audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to identify, recommend, and implement various internal communication technologies and tools.
* Extensive knowledge of distinct writing styles, including AP style and can write for both long and short formats and a variety of mediums.
* Excellent people and project management skills with the ability to thrive while managing multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines.
* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and cloud-based internal communications platforms
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of internal stakeholders, including with executive leadership (C-suite level) and a broad range of cross-functional partners.
