Your responsibilities

The Maintenance Team Leader reports to the Maintenance Engineering Group Leader and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily maintenance and electronics tech activities, providing support to techs, and participating in projects to improve processes and reduce machine downtime. Primary responsibility is to manage the resources to execute emergency and planned maintenance, support technicians in troubleshooting (mechanical, electrical, controls and automation systems), further developing the team's technical skills, and ensuring the team follows all internal procedures.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Addressing maintenance issues on the production line
  • Manage daily activities of maintenance staff
  • Provide leadership, supervisory, and technical support to maintenance team

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and control maintenance activities
  • Prioritize and coordinate members of maintenance staff for work on down machines
  • Communicate with other shift leaders to discuss updates and establish priorities, ensuring excellent shift exchange update
  • Work directly with production associates, maintenance technicians, and supervisors to diagnose machine operation variations and equipment problems.
  • Manage the work order and PM management system, driving to keep the system updated
  • Support and guide the troubleshooting and repairing of complex equipment including automated machines, robotics, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems, and drives
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, detects and replaces defective components when necessary
  • Contribute to improvements in the PM's checklist, planning, and execution
  • Develop A3 root cause analysis reports for excessive downtime
  • Contact necessary third parties (equipment vendor, software vendor, etc.) for support on site or remotely
  • Source parts from outside sources and procure parts using SAP system while adhering to all purchasing rules
  • Assist in managing non-stocked capital critical spare parts
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches or schematics
  • Instruct and train maintenance and electronics technicians in methods and procedures
  • Drive 5S results and performance, ensuring the area organization at end of shift is according 5S standards
  • Participate in projects to improve processes and reduce downtime

Your profile

Qualifications

  • Education/Credentials/Certifications
    • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field with 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. OR Associate's Degree in related field with 6-10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Length of Experience
    • At least 2 years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Knowledgeable of electronics, mechanics, and fluid power
    • General understanding of how a machine functions and operates
    • Working knowledge of programmable controllers and industrial robotics including Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC's and ABB Robotics
    • Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, electrical, and troubleshooting
    • Manual skills to operate tools and equipment when necessary
    • Advanced mechanical knowledge
    • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems
    • Knowledge of machine controls and operation
    • Manual skills to operate tools and equipment when necessary
    • Excellent oral and written language ability
    • Excellent problem solving and reasoning ability
    • Ability to follow written procedures and guidelines
    • Excellent interpersonal abilities
