The Office of the Bursar is a support service department in the Division of Administration and Finance. Within the Office of the Bursar there are four key areas of operation: Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Account Counseling and OneCard ID Services. Each of these operations provides services and support to NIU students, commercial customers and other NIU departments.
This is a seasonal part-time (extra help) position from May - September to assist the OneCard Office with summer orientations, operations and the start of the Fall 24 term. Schedule would be within the office hours of M-F (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), with occasional start times of 7:30 a.m.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Assist with the day-to-day front desk operations of the OneCard
- Assist with processing and creating university identification cards (OneCard ID).
- Process Huskie Bucks Deposits for students and employees using a Point of Sale (POS).
- Balance office register at the end of the day.
- Assist with taking photos and passing out cards at Orientations and other campus events
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to cardholder information.
- Data entry and filing of OneCard related documents
- Monitor Lost ID cards that are turned into the office by contacting students
- Assist with answering phone calls and emails
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students and departmental officials/faculty/staff, ensuring positive and professional customer service.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to pay attention to details.
- Proficiency with computer skills to perform duties and responsibilities using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
