Summary

The New Business Supervisor (NBS) oversees a team of Conflicts Researchers who are responsible for researching prospective new clients to assess and mitigate ethical, financial, and reputational risks presented. The NBS will support the Director of Conflicts Operations (DCO) in ensuring all Firm processes and procedures are followed for vetting potential new clients and play a lead role in developing and implementing a training program for Conflicts Researchers to become Conflicts Analysts.

Duties and Responsibilities
    Lead the further development of the Conflicts Researcher role as an integral part of the conflicts and new business intake process.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a training program and path for advancement within the Conflicts / New Business Department.
  • Oversee the day-to-day processing of New Client Evaluations and potential client vetting ensuring proper communication, the timely flow of information and the highest level of customer service provided to the partners.
  • Prepares and regularly updates documentation used in training of new and current staff both within and outside the Conflicts/New Business Department on the processes and procedures related to onboarding new clients.
  • Serve as a Firm expert regarding new business intake including opening new matters for both new and existing clients. This includes being available for urgent and confidential situations, including evenings and weekends.
  • Assists and advises the DCO and Conflicts/New Business Manager in identifying, interviewing and hiring additional Conflicts Researchers.
  • Assists in processing New Client Evaluations, Conflicts Searches, and potential client vetting in order to maintain the Conflicts/New Business Department's current turnaround time.
  • Works closely with the DCO and the Conflicts/New Business Managers to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the standardization of data and information in the firm's conflicts database.
  • Works closely and communicates regularly with assigned Partners to ensure their clients/matters are opened quickly and efficiently in a way that preserves the high quality of content contained within the conflicts database.
  • Plays a lead role in the development, implementation and testing of new tools and applications used to facilitate conflicts searching, clearance and new business intake.

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in conflicts or new business intake or similar compliance/risk management role at a large law firm or similar professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (esp. Word and Excel)
  • Advanced proficiency in boolean searching and one or more enterprise conflicts search applications (such as Elite Enterprise, LegalKey, Intapp Open, Compliguard Analyze, etc.)

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience supervising or managing staff
