Job/Internship Description

Supports the finance department with daily reports, weekly, and month-closing act

ivities. Works closely with Accounting Manager and is responsible for carrying out a number of general accounting functions and miscellaneous duties.

Expands and enhances basic knowledge in conjunction with academic subjects of study. Interacts with supervisors, team members, project leaders and other business functions.

Approximately 20 hours a week with potential for full time.

Expands and enhances basic knowledge in conjunction with academic subjects of study. Interacts with supervisors, team members, project leaders and other business functions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports Finance/Accounting by performing basic and repetitive assignments

  • Participate in a variety of assignments of reporting and analysis in the Finance/Accounting Dept.

  • Perform specific and limited portions of less complex assignments for higher-level staff- more complex tasks may be assigned based on proven ability to perform initial responsibilities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Analytical skills necessary to review/analyze accounting and financial data, substantiate financial statement balances and prepare financial statement account reconciliation

  • Ability to function with limited supervision and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Ability to identify, measure, evaluate and improve, if necessary, the effectiveness of accounting, financial, managerial and operational controls

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)

  • SAP or similar ERP system experience preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse partners both internally and externally

  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and demonstrate effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize without much supervision

  • Must be a team player by assisting in other areas within the department as needed

  • Must be willing to work periodic times as required by business conditions, especially at month end.

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as full-time student in an accredited college or university studying towards a Bachelors/Associates degree in finance/accounting OR hold an Associates degree in finance/accounting

  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0

  • This is an entry-level position therefore previous experience is not required, but a plus

Education
Associates Degree in Related field
Bachelor's Degree in Related field
Experience Requirements
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying toward a Bachelors/Associates degree in specified function
  • Must complete the sophomore year in the major program of study prior to beginning a co-op
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0
