Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Architecture design and maintenance of the Next Generation Distributed Storage on IP transport, including distributed block storage, object storage, and file storage
  • Performance tune storage offering for nationalized EMR and EHR systems
  • Build technology policy, engineering standards, methodologies, task-plans, and best practices for Storage Engineering
  • Responsible for complex provisioning, advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, data migration, and documentation for our Storage and Backup environments
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Storage & Backup devices, including SAN, NAS, and Backup solutions across all tiers
  • Operate in complex, highly secure, highly available, Application-centric datacenter environments and interact with other technology domain experts as required, to build and maintain the Storage and Backups solutions in regional data center environments
  • Write technical design and build documentation for storage infrastructure
  • Using a blend of engineering and curiosity, understand and exploit currently unused features of existing storage related products to extract value from spent capital
  • IO and stress test products and technologies to understand and verify their limits to increase understanding and improve stability
  • Contribute to the design, configuration, and usage standards
  • Work with both the incumbent and emerging vendor community to understand their technologies, offer feedback, and improve or customize solutions to benefit OptumCare
  • Work with various OptumCare teams and groups to test technology and features (examples block, NAS, object, network, Data Protection, Container, and Security
  • Solid understanding of Datacenter consolidation, IaaS, private cloud, virtualization, assessment and capacity planning technologies, and best practices

Requirement Qualifications:
  • 7+  years of substantial experience working in SAN/IP-Storage/Backup Administration
  • 1+  year Hand-on experience with implementing PFC and DCBX protocols
  • Experience working in large, complex, enterprise datacenter environments
  • Expert knowledge in designing, deploying and supporting Enterprise IP based storage system, SAN, NAS, and Backup solutions in a private cloud model
  • Solid knowledge of virtualization technologies and products from VMware and Microsoft
  • Experience with storage configuration, volume management, and multi-path management software tools.
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp and one of the following storage arrays:
    • HPE
    • Dell/EMC
    • Pure
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting 
  • Experience with Backup Solutions like Cohesity, Rubrik and Veeam
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux, Windows, VMware ESXi, and other hypervisors environment
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery as it relates to storage systems and data recovery techniques, including disk replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery best practices
  • Ability to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of Storage and Backup infrastructure
  • Expert analysis and troubleshooting skills for the end-to-end storage and backup stack (VMs, hosts, SAN switches, Storage & Backup devices)
