Role Description
Come join a diverse and collaborative team of researchers who work directly with product and marketing leaders to help Dropbox understand the future of how we organize our work and lives in 2021 and beyond. We are looking for a highly-experienced individual with a mixed-methods background (expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods), with an understanding of how to integrate diverse sources of insights. The work will be formative - using approaches such as in-depth interviews, quantitative surveys, and statistical modeling. The right candidate will have done rigorous, creative, impactful primary research, is an excellent communicator, and is excited to collaborate with a wide cross-functional team!
Responsibilities
  • Design and execute end-to-end custom primary research using a wide variety of methods (both quantitative and qualitative) and interpret analysis through the lens of business impact, UX, and social science
  • Evaluate consumers' motivations and unmet needs to improve acquisition and retention
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners (product management, analytics, marketing, design, engineering, cx) to identify and prioritize knowledge gaps in our understanding of how Dropbox users engage with our product, and design research that uniquely contributes to solving for those gaps
  • Engage internal and external partners worldwide to uncover pain points, unmet needs, or workarounds that inspire innovations that optimize the flow of content in our products
  • You will partner with subject matter experts across the company taking a systems-level view to craft research recommendations and synthesize workflow needs and user insights
  • Define and facilitate design thinking workshops to foster cross-functional collaboration, action your research, and inform experiences that reflect a clearly defined problem
  • Influence business decisions by encouraging creative thinking that creates major movement or shifts our direction, preventing us from making uninformed decisions or wasting resources, and improving the experience for our in-house and external partners
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • 9+ years leading both qualitative & quantitative research, which supports product innovation or development
  • Clear, demonstrable experience as a researcher, experience strategist, service designer, or similar role, on a complex set of products, with a proven record of seeing products from concept to delivery
  • Effective verbal and written communication style distilling complex multi-method research reports into understandable, compelling, and actionable insights
  • Experience with lab, field, individual and group-based qualitative methods, in addition to quantitative, behavioral analysis and statistical concepts.
  • Experience with survey and questionnaire design, data analysis, sampling, and statistical analyses of survey or behavioral data
Preferred Qualifications
  • 9+ years of experience conducting research in a product-focused company or consulting environment, including working with key stakeholders to understand and clarify their people research needs, and communicating analyses to technical and non-technical audiences
  • 6+ years of experience applying multivariate statistical methods such as GLM, analysis of quasi-experimental research designs with non-equivalent groups (e.g., regression adjustment, matching, propensity score stratification), longitudinal analysis, classification, dimension reduction, clustering, hierarchical linear (random effects) modeling, etc., to people research problems in organizations
  • Experience identifying and working with vendors on end-to-end research design on international research projects
  • Experience with SQL/Hive and/or Python and large datasets (> 1TB)
  • Experience conducting international/cross-cultural research
