Valuation for Financial & Tax Reporting Manager

Job Description Summary

We are seeking to hire a Manager or Senior Manager with an extensive background in real estate valuation, specifically in the area of financial reporting for both U.S. GAAP and IFRS. The individual will have an entrepreneurial spirit with burgeoning client relationships and demonstrated ability to assist in the identification and successfully pursue engagement opportunities.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have the ability to appropriately engage valuation assignments, identify the scope of work and determine the appropriate approaches and methodology for valuing property as well as complete assignments in connection with commercial real estate valuation and consulting projects. Duties include data collection and market research, analyzing complex highest and best use scenarios, analyzing revenue and expense performance, developing cash flows utilizing discounted cash flow models, analyses of comparable sales, detailed cost analyses, and drawing market comparisons in developing opinions of value. This role requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills in addition to excellent communication skills. May provide mentorship to less experienced professionals. Actively engaged in developing new business and managing client relationships.

Education and Experience
  • Business Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related area required
  • Certified General Appraiser certificates in multiple states/jurisdictions
  • Certifications preferred: CPA, CFA and/or MAI. Candidate for MAI designation a plus
  • 5 to 7 years of experience with a B4 accounting firm or large advisory firm performing valuations for financial and tax reporting
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in business development and cross-selling of commercial real estate services
  • Advanced user of MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook/Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Argus Enterprise a plus
  • Strong understanding of fair value concepts under both U.S. GAAP and IFRS, with emphasis on application of these concepts to real estate. Strong understanding of accounting guidance for ASC 805, Business Combinations and ASC 842, Leases is required
  • Strong understanding of valuation concepts relating to commercial real estate, including income capitalization, market approach and replacement cost analysis.
  • Experience valuing fractional/minority interests, debt and equity positions, and REIT corporate modelling is preferred, but not required.
