THE OPPORTUNITY

The Finance Summer Internships will be based in our Oak Brook, IL Office.

In addition to hands-on experience in Accounting, Corporate, Supply Chain, & Division Finance, or Internal Audit, the TreeHouse Foods Finance Summer Internship will afford the intern:

  • formal orientation and on-boarding
  • individualized development, including a formal mid-term and end-of-term evaluation
  • regular interface with Finance leadership through weekly 'Lessons from Leaders' sessions
  • visits to one or more of our manufacturing and/or distribution operations
  • intern group project
  • intern outings
  • end of internship presentation to the Chief Financial Officer and the Finance Leadership Team
  • breakfast with our President & Chief Executive Officer

Accounting

Located in either our Oak Brook, IL or Green Bay, WI offices, this position will apply accounting principles to assist in the completion of the Company's month-end closing process, preparation of financial reports, and analysis of financial results. As necessary, this position will provide analytical support to the divisions. This role will also be directly involved in one or more special projects.

Corporate, Supply Chain, & Division Finance

This role will be heavily project focused, but also involve a variety of day-to-day activities. Primarily an analytical role, there would be expected to be considerable time spent evaluating monthly and quarterly results versus forecast, plan, and prior year and providing insights to Company leadership as to what occurred as well as the implications to future periods. The role would be expected to operate across and down the organization to fully understand the state of the business.

Internal Audit

This position will participate as a member of a team on one or more strategic, financial, operational, compliance, or information technology audits throughout the Company. The primary objective of these audits will be to provide assurance to management and the Audit Committee that processes are well designed and operating effectively. This individual will also participate on business process improvement advisory reviews designed to identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency and drive top and bottom line growth. In addition, this role will be assigned to one of the function's strategic initiatives aimed at improving the operations of the department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 2 - 3 years of progress towards a bachelor's degree in business with an Accounting, Finance, or closely related major.
  • Overall and within major GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Demonstrated interest in accounting, finance, and operations through course work or previous internships.
  • Computer savvy, knowledge of ERP systems, and strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior management.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

AFTER YOUR INTERNSHIP - THE FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

After successfully completing one or more internships with TreeHouse Foods, you may have an opportunity to join us full-time, after graduation, at which point, you would join our three-year, rotational, Financial Development Program.

The Financial Development Program is designed to provide you with three, one-year experiences, in three different parts of our accounting and finance organization. To supplement this practical and hands-on experience, we will provide individualized learning plans, career counseling, one-on-one mentoring, bi-annual group learning conferences, and group assignments.

In addition, we would expect that you will join us on campus and help us recruit the next group of accounting and finance interns and be actively involved in shaping the future design and content of both the internship and Financial Development Program.
