Summary of Position:
The Training Specialist is responsible for identifying, designing, developing, implementing, facilitating and evaluating training programs for pharmacy automation solutions for customers and employees. Methods of training consist of; instructor-led at the corporate training facility, or at a customer facility, e-learning, and webinar/conference call. This position supports a variety of training and development initiatives in order to provide the most effective training and development solutions as well as strategic learning objectives.
 
Essential Functions:
  1.  Participate in the development of training programs
  • Identify best data collection methods
  • Conduct a needs analysis by working with subject matter experts from various departments to determine gaps
  1. Create, update and review course training materials
  • Design and/or update training course objectives, outlines, agendas, participant guides, job aides, PowerPoint presentations, assessments, and e-Learning courses using adult learning methodology, along with principles of instructional design that drives knowledge transfer and improved performance
  • Assist in reviewing/evaluating courses developed by others
  1. Conduct instructor-led training in a classroom setting for customers and employees using various delivery methods on multiple complex pharmacy automated dispensing solutions
  • Facilitate the delivery of training as a good listener, communicator, and motivator while considering adult learning theories
  • Provide monitoring, coaching and feedback while imposing a safe training environment
  • Measure student learning during training, provide suggestions for improvement and make decisions on student suitability for deployment
  • Incorporate feedback in order to improve knowledge transfer and training program outcome
  • On occasion, provide training at a customer facility
  1. Collaborate with Project Teams
  • Participate as a member of a product specific project team
  • Communicate effectively within the team
  • Provide updates as needed to team members and management as it pertains to training development
  1. Maintain training rooms & environment
  • Work with product development in keeping product software versions updated
  • Work with hardware engineers in keeping product hardware up to date and running efficiently
  • Attend project meetings for any new products, or upgrades to existing products to assist with compliance
  1. Generates ideas to improve training design and delivery, increase knowledge transfer and retention, and improve training processes
  2. Performs related duties as assigned.
Competencies:
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with e-Learning Authoring Tools such as Articulate or Captivate
  • Familiar with Adult Learning Principles, ADDIE model, System Development Life cycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate and work with all levels or employees and customers
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Convey solid presentation, training and coaching skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution and influencing skills required
  • Ability to work within a team oriented environment
  • High energy, enthusiastic, tactful, and professional training style
  • Willingness to change and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed 
 Education and Experience:
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two to four years’ experience in creating training materials and facilitating instructor-led training for adults
  • Experience with e-Learning authoring tools, such as Articulate or Captivate
  • Experience with an LMS (Learning Management System) a plus
  • Pharmacy experience a plus

The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet.
  1. Sedentary physical activity requiring reaching, sitting, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking and hearing.

  3. 25% or more time is spent looking directly at a computer.
