This position is at our Buffalo Grove, IL facility

Summary of Position:
Assembles, cross-trains, tests, and repairs electro-mechanical parts, assemblies, and equipment according to blueprints, diagrams, and specifications, using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and test equipment.  This role is senior in nature and will pertain to employees with several years of experience in manufacturing electro-mechanical products.  The incumbent will train and provide feedback regarding more junior assembly staff.  Will also provide roving inspections and feedback of production assemblies. The role will also include setup and test of subassemblies and final assemblies. 
 
Essential Functions:
  1. Assist with the OJT (on the job training) of new production staff/group, provide feedback during training.  Provide guidance/development in areas of training needs.
  2. Lead integration and subassembly teams in the completion of products to schedule.  They would be responsible for teams performance and development to production schedule.  Perform inspection of assemblies and final assemblies.  Monitor SPC performance of teams and take corrective actions as required for work centers.
  3. Reading and completing work orders, route sheets, following production drawings and construct sub-assemblies to integrate into the main assembly product.
  4. Provide feedback to Mfg support on updates to shop-aids, process improvements and other leads for optimizing quality & repeatability.
  5. Mounts, assembled components to chassis or units using assembly tooling
  6. Installs multi-level sub-assemblies and modules into complex configurations
  7. Routes wire cable and harness assemblies into mechanical assemblies
  8. Works with manufacturing and design engineering on new assemblies and assists, instructs and trains new operators
  9. Performs related duties as assigned.
Competencies:
  • Previous or demonstrated leadership skills required
  • Previous electro-mechanical assembly experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and shop aids
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Able to work in a team environment, and be self-directed when required
  • Ability to travel away from home base approximately 15-20% of the time each year performing installations
  • Excellent communication skills
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum Grade 12 education required
  • 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must read, speak and write English
