This position can be in Buffalo Grove, IL or Winnipeg, Manitoba

Summary of Position:

Responsible for all aspects of financial management including accounting, financial reporting, product costing, taxation, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.  Assist Director of Finance with recommendations on process improvement and financial analysis. Take the lead role as the Finance/MRP Specialist.
 
Essential Functions:
  1. Prepare and  provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends 
  2. Lead the Finance teams in both Chicago and Winnipeg, strive for continual process improvement
  3. Ensure all proper costing processes are in place and continuous review is undertaken to correct any deficiencies  and drive improvement within the process
  4. Ensure proper interaction between financial results & MRP system
  5. Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation
  6. Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline
  7. Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of managers on financial issues impacting their budgets
  8. Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
  9. Responsible for recruiting and performance management of direct reports; ensures they are poised to meet the company objectives and goals; provides development opportunities, coaching and mentorship as well as execution of individualized development.
  10. Provides fiscal leadership and continuous quality improvement principles and processes to improve quality and minimize operational expenses.
  11. Performs related duties as assigned.
Competencies:
  • 5+ years work experience Strong knowledge of Accounting, GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems and how they integrate with financial data.  Baan experience a plus.
  • Results oriented, and the ability to multi-task with competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels within the organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Flexibility and adaptability to achieve results in a dynamic growth environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources and timelines
  • To be based in Chicago or Winnipeg, with the ability to travel internationally.
  • Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions; ability to resolve employee issues effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to participate and drive major organizational change and operational initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including high energy level, maturity, and creativity. 
  • Excellent leadership, relationship building and teambuilding skills
  • Ability to lead and energize multidiscipline work teams to learn and apply new skills and techniques to respond to business needs
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage aggressive timelines and pay close attention to detail; analytical
  • Excellent ability to train, develop and motivate
  • Computer skills: Baan ERP system, Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint, Office, Outlook, Visio, Excel, Project) Share Point
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required, Professional Designation (CPA, CA) preferred.
