QC function - the actual report review, mentorship, co-sign when needed, etc.
Bank experience is helpful. The mentorship in this role has included explaining to our professionals that banks need to "check the boxes" and are not trying to be difficult. It also helps relate to issues that our bank clients are experiencing (regulatory requirements, etc.).
Mentorship also includes participating in phone calls with our professionals and their clients and impressing upon them the importance of communicating early and often to set client expectations and avoid surprises.
Time spent varies on workflow and geography covered.
Client care - largely focused on regional and local client base, needs assessment, relationship building with chief appraisers and review staff, business development, address conflicts and issues with service delivery, etc.
Includes attending AI events and networking with bank/appraiser clients.
Also includes reaching out to clients where we have had challenges on jobs and working to resolve them and avoid them on future engagements.
AI - most active C&W professional in local AI, committee roles, leadership roles, "go to" for standards questions, etc.
AI involvement is instrumental in developing a network of resources nationally. LDAC (AI's Leadership Development and Advisory Council) allowed me to meet appraisers (including USPAP instructors) and connect in a social as well as business environment. Participation is highly encouraged.
Board participation has also been a plus. I will be serving as President of the larges AI chapter in 2021, and the contacts and friendships formed with that involvement have been very helpful.
Need to stay very current on regulations like USPAP and FIRREA.
Talent - "right hand" of regional manager with respect to talent assessment, recruiting, competitor intelligence, etc.
AI/industry involvement plays a role here. Having contacts through AI in the banking and fee sides of the industry have been helpful in staying current on what our competitors and clients are doing.
