This position is Contingent Customer approval
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking an experienced leader to serve as a Diesel Engine Contract Instructor. The Diesel Engine Instructor will provide support to the the Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) in Chicago, IL.
Job Description:
  • Responsible for technical and military training, involving instructor services and remediation for DOD personnel, including Navy and Allied Forces officers and enlisted personnel, temporarily assigned to SWESC Great Lakes, IL for training.

  • Lead a classroom of students through group-paced classroom and laboratory instruction as well as assessment of competence in designated subject areas.

  • Operate Government furnished simulators, Technical Training Equipment (TTE) and other computer-based training in performance of course instruction and provide critiques, maintain student records, conduct remediation and retest when necessary.
  • Conduct travel as required.
Qualifications:
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Must be a Graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) OR equivalent instructor training course.
  • Must have at least 3 years of technical experience in the subject matter hired to instruct.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in a Military Training Environment.
  • Must have knowledge of learning principles, practices, and methods of presentation and delivery of course content, testing and remediation procedures, curriculum, training aids, devices, electronic podiums, TTE, lab equipment, equipment operation, and maintenance procedures associated with the course
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer Senior (E7 - E9) EN or MM with shipboard experience and main propulsion background.
  • Prefer Tier I (Master Level): An Engineman and a graduate of the following courses: LSD 41/49 Colt-Pielstick Maintainer, (A-652-0323), Diesel Engine C School Module 5 (LPD C/P), (A-651-9001), USCG ALCO 251C, (A-651-3030), USCG FBM, (A-651-3031) and Fairbanks Morse Diesel 38ND 8-1/8, (A-652-0450).
  • Prefer Tier II (Journeyman Level): An Engineman and a graduate of at least one (1) of the following courses; LST 41/49 Colt-Pielstick Maintainer, (A-652-0323), Diesel Engine C School Module 5 (LPD C/P), (A-651-9001), USCG ALCO 251C, (A-651-3030), USCG FBM, (A-651-3031) and Fairbanks Morse Diesel 38ND 8-1/8, (A-652-0450.
  • Prefer comprehensive knowledge in the areas of safety, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the course/systems listed above.
  • Prefer In-depth knowledge of all aspects of diesel inspection process.
Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards and Naval installations.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional Travel - up to 25% travel
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Moderate work that includes moving objects up to 40 pounds.

Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 per year
