What You'll Do

As the Sr. Quality Manager, you will define and deploy quality Strategies/Management Systems through-out DNA operations to ensure products and service quality, and meet the expectations of customers and stakeholders. This position will work closely with the procurement team to identify key areas of improvement and to set milestones for improvement initiatives. Other duties will include:

  • Directly accountable for Product and Service Quality Management Systems of 5 Dyno Nobel Americas Initiation Systems Sites, consistent with ISO9000 and Operational Discipline. Accountable for development and deployment of external Zero-Defect Strategies (Zero Repeat) Quality and Service issues.
  • Partner with Customers and Suppliers to establish and maintain calibrated relationships; negotiate, resolve, prevent, anticipate, and eliminate Quality threats to the business.
  • Work directly with Site Leaders and Site Personnel to improve Product and Service Quality

  • Negotiate, Resolve, and Prevent Reoccurrence of Quality / Recalls / Service Issues, build and maintain strong/responsive Relationships with all DNA customers
  • Mitigate risks by establishing clear quality objectives and by identifying roles and responsibilities committed to meeting these objectives.

  • High level of visibility with Customer and Supplier bases in reference to sound incoming quality as well as Zero Defects to the Customer. Accountable for the development and deployment of an appropriately phased Strategy for Zero Defect to build and sustain an effective Quality Culture at all levels of DNA.
  • Accountable for the determination, selection, and management of Product/Service certifications (i.e., ISO9000 or alternative) appropriate to maintain and implement said strategies. DNA Representative to all 3rd Party Auditors/Registrars.
  • Accountable for management and decisions on Material Review Board (MRB) process for DNA to ensure appropriate ROI considerations of rework, returns, recall and/or scrap of quarantined or suspect product.
  • Works closely with Procurement to ensure quality raw material specifications are set, which allows products to be obtained in the current marketplace, such that they provide performance at an acceptable price or conformance at an acceptable cost to the company.
  • Accountable for application of the appropriate and up to date mistake proofing technology across manufacturing (Vision systems, interlocks, sensors, physical mistake proofing) and developing/implementing Capex with the appropriate levels of ROI for stakeholders.
  • Accountable for working with major Customers in joint Quality Management System (QMS) ventures to ensure calibrated understanding of Quality. Partnering with Customers/Suppliers, where appropriate, to ensure a good understanding and implementation of Root Cause and actions to correct. Where appropriate, negotiating settlements, and/or corrective actions, and/or management of expectations.
  • Working closely with Product Management to ensure a well calibrated understanding of issues, a quick resolution of customer issues, accompanied with clear communication to close gaps.
  • Responsible for development of key Quality personnel and resources throughout DNA to ensure good succession planning for all key positions within the Quality Management System platform. Ensure specialized skills are captured and cross-trained and/or outsourced appropriately to prevent gaps in critical knowledge/skills.
  • Accountable for DNA Quality Document System; ensuring adequate, suitable, and usable (ease of use) systems exist and are maintained / monitored appropriately.
  • Accountable for development and implementation of proven, yet innovative quality systems; including advanced predictive modeling. Preventing defects from reaching both internal and external customers, surpassing competition in repeatability and reliability of product and/or service.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Business required, Master's Degree, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 15+ years Quality/Manufacturing experience leading a team of leaders. Plant management experience preferred.
  • 10 combined years in Quality Systems Management, Lab Operations, Materials, Procurement, Returns/Recall Management, Customer/Supplier, and Auditing/Negotiations
  • High knowledge and skill in Quality Management System design, deployment, training, culture building, and effectiveness evaluation / course correction
  • Certified Six Sigma Blackbelt
  • Certifications by the "American Society of Quality" in Quality Engineering and Auditing, Senior Member Status preferred
  • Extensive Knowledge and Skills in leading high-level teams in multiple Root Cause techniques/investigations
  • Knowledge of financial models, P&L's, ROI, Cost of Quality

  • Detailed Plant Operations Knowledge and Skills, specifically in Discrete/Continuous Manufacturing

  • Developing and executing strategic plans both in direct and indirect situations; Culture setting on larger organizational scale
