Our team designs, develops, and manages applications and infrastructure that support Akamai's Compute products and services. You will drive automation, operational excellence, and support our customer facing applications and infrastructure. Partner with the best

As a Senior Hypervisor Engineering Team Lead, you'll focus on developing and implementing Akamai''s next generation of hypervisor infrastructure. You will implement an infrastructure strategy to ensure our hardware is the fastest, most reliable, and most secure on the market. This requires creative thinking combined with deep domain expertise on Linux,virtualization, and performance tuning.

As a Senior Hypervisor Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and mentoring a team of talented hypervisor engineers
  • Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standards
  • Providing support, leadership and guidance for project teams deploying new features and services
  • Working with Linux Kernel and virtualization stack to optimize performance, compatibility and stability
  • Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
  • Experience with architecting hardware, software, and infrastructure at scale
  • Possess expert-level experience in a Development or SysAdmin role, working with large scale distributed systems
  • Have the ability to align with strategic business initiatives and coordinate the work of other engineers
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skills
  • Possess informed opinions on technology and software design to bring to the table

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $113,430 - $170,043/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
