Nexus-Indian Oaks is looking for a skilled Youth Care Professional - MHP to join our team!

Responsibilities:

Provide coaching and supervision of youth(s) daily activities and behavior

  • Coach to ensure youth(s) to follow daily schedules and activities established for the program
  • Coach to ensure youth(s) comply with required activities surrounding personal care and daily living responsibilities
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to youth
  • Demonstrate an acceptance and respectfulness toward diversity concerning commonalities and differences such as gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, disability, and gender identity
  • Administer medications per established protocols and generate related recording requirements accurately

Implementation of trauma-informed, strengths-based treatment plans and therapeutic services.

  • Understand and incorporate the trauma-informed, strengths-based, youth-guided, family-engaged treatment
  • Implement and provide feedback and observations to the clinical team regarding youth's individual treatment plans and remain cognizant of each youth's needs
  • Engage in and implement trauma-informed strengths-based therapeutic interventions with youth(s) and their families
  • Comply with all documentation and standards
  • Engage in counseling sessions with youth(s) and, in coordination with Youth Care Professional III, Therapist and/or Clinical Supervisor, develop behavioral plans as needed
  • Regularly attend and actively participate in staff meetings

Ensure youth(s) emotional and physical safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean, strengths-based, and therapeutic.

  • Ensure compliance with all emotional and physical safety policies and procedures
  • Express concerns and ideas that will help ensure emotional and physical safety and high-quality treatment
  • Report to supervisor, team members, and families any signs and symptoms potentially requiring intervention or referral
  • Perform First Aid/CPR procedures and respond according to established protocols in the event of an emergency situation
  • Perform restraints and seclusion activities as necessary to keep youth(s) safe from self and others and report incidents to the proper individuals
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries in all interaction and contact with youth(s) and their families
  • Comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality for youth(s) and their families
  • Assist with Program and youth in their daily programming activities
  • Work effectively with youth's families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships

Schedule/Pay:

  • Full-time; on-site opportunity
  • Hourly payrate offers starting at $18.21.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years residential experience
  • Or Clinical Bachelor's degree such as Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or Non-Clinical Bachelor's degree plus 2 years residential experience
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Corporate driving requirements.
  • Must meet all requirements for a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as mandated by DCFS to meet regulatory standards.

Physical demands:

  • Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of residents.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
  • Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
