DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is looking for an Environmental Specialist to join the HSSE team supporting construction of 10-200M utility scale solar projects. This role involves 95% travel in Virginia with per diem pay and monthly home trips. This position helps the site maintain compliance with the applicable permits. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and enjoys a combination of field work & office work, highly organized, and able to operate in a fast paced and quickly changing environment.
This role does not provide VISA sponsorship.

Our Team

DEPCOM's Project Delivery Organization executes full turnkey PV and BESS plants with collection substations and generation transmission lines. We utilize preferred partnerships with key vendors and subcontractors while coordinating with interconnection utilities across the nation.

As a department within the larger Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) department, our team exists as a support function to the broader DEPCOM organization. We support and consult with project teams from pre-construction to closeout to assist them in maintaining compliance. Environmental Compliance works with Contracts, Engineering, Construction, and Project Management to ensure our projects are built in a manner that reflects our principle of Stewardship and Compliance.

What You Will Do

  • Understand and educate on the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) requirements.
  • Ensuring environmental compliance trainings are being held appropriately on site and provide site team and subcontractors educational materials and Compliance Moments Support conducting facility regulatory audits ensuring that SWPPP inspections and remediations are being performed properly and per permit requirements
  • Participate in Environmental Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Training events Collaborate with Engineering and Construction teams to find project solutions regarding environmental compliance.
  • Develop and improve processes and measures that drive consistent action and behaviors that maximize profitability
  • Create win-win situations with our constituencies especially regarding Safety and Environmental Compliance and create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in environmental compliance matters, environmental policy, and regulatory standards
  • Experience with document control and organization
  • Experience comprehending technical reports and inspection data
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel and be located to assigned project locations

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in the solar industry
  • Certified stormwater Inspector or equivalent certification
  • Coursework in Environmental, Engineering, Sustainability, Policy, or Construction Management
  • Ability to read Civil Engineering drawings

For this role, we anticipate paying $65,000- $85,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
