The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, this position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day Human Resource needs for AG Retail and Corporate. As the first HR point of contact for employees, this role supports the HRBP to optimize people, processes and resources to attract, develop, engage and retain talent, and maximize productivity. Provides basic guidance to employees and supervisors. Partners with leaders and employees to create an inclusive culture where all team members are included and able to grow in their role. This role is an in-person role based out of the Chicago American Girl Retail store location.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Works with business and HR leadership to ensure a healthy workplace culture where inclusion, wellness and safety are a critical business priority.
  • Day to day HR needs at AG Retail Stores. First point of contact to provide guidance and direction regarding basic employee questions.
  • With oversight from HR leadership, leads talent sourcing efforts through networking, hiring fairs, social and digital advertising to increase awareness and attract talent.
  • Identifies and executes opportunities for recruitment fairs to build community awareness and fill roles.
  • Independently screens, interviews and hires and onboards talent for regular and seasonal positions.
  • Manages job postings for AG Retail & Corporate at the direction of HR leadership across all advertising channels to attract strong talent for regular and seasonal positions in a timely manner while minimizing spend.
  • Evaluating advertising performance and providing proactive recommendations for optimizing advertising across channels (print, social, digital) for AG Retail locations.
  • Support Global Onboarding team in conducting new hire orientation, including ensuring all legal and company required paperwork is completed accurately, thoroughly and within designated timeframes.
  • Responsible for Workday changes to ensure the integrity of the data including promotions, supervisor changes, terminations, etc. Back-up support for Workday/system changes as well as managing employment records and filing.
  • Coordinate and execute, in partnership with HR Leadership, corporate sponsored employee engagement/community outreach events.
  • Supports HRBP with execution/integration of tactical elements or segments of corporate initiatives such as employee engagement, training, diversity, equity, and inclusion, etc.
  • Provides administration support to HRBP for employee relations, including proper documentation.


What We're Looking For:

  • 2+ years of HR or business leadership experience including sourcing/recruitment, leading teams and/or training.
  • Background in human resources ideally in a retail environment, including experience with recruitment and employee engagement.
  • Ability to be on-site daily in Chicago to support employees and leaders.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times regarding employee and company information.
  • Basic knowledge of State and Federal employment laws pertaining to hiring, employee relations, etc.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience leading several projects within tight timeframes.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, identify creative resource solutions and align individual and business expectations in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must have ability to build strong rapport and trust with individuals at all levels of the organization in order to support conflict resolution, elevate employee performance, and change management initiatives that are primarily led by HRBP.
  • Highly proficient in communicating in a calm, clear, empathetic, but direct manner.
  • Ability to take ambiguous and/or incomplete information/concepts/situations/dynamics and transform it into clear and easily understandable information. Must be able to assess problems and identify appropriate solutions and/or know when to partner for support.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced, sometimes high stress environment with a diversity of individuals including front-line staff, management, internal partners and candidates.
  • Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The base hourly rate for this position is between$22.00 and $27.50 per hour **This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
