As a Payment Processing Specialist, you will be responsible for efficient application of payments to loans across a variety of loan types while also supporting all functions in the department providing back up to areas in need. This position requires a base understanding of credits and debits to manage customer accounts while holding an understanding of how to research any payment disputes and how to appropriately apply payments based on interest methods and amount due.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Execute accurate and timely processing of various types of payments, including but not limited to electronic transfers, ACH transactions, wire transfers, and check disbursements.
  • Validate payment details, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Address discrepancies or issues related to payments promptly and effectively.
  • Serve as a reliable backup for other positions in the department such as Merchant Financing Specialist and customer support for merchants.
  • Collaborate with team members across different departments to streamline processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Compile and analyze data to prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports pertaining to payment processing activities.
  • Generate insightful reports that provide key stakeholders with actionable insights into payment trends, transaction volumes, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all reports, adhering to established deadlines.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain the integrity and accuracy of payment processing systems and procedures.
  • Inputting and maintaining the accuracy of data within the loan financing system.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to existing processes to minimize errors and optimize performance.
  • Uphold compliance standards and mitigate potential risks by adhering to established protocols and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Cross-sells bank products and services in a professional manner.
  • Completes required training associated with job function.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, Associates preferred.
  • 1+ years banking, payment application or accounting experience preferred.
Skills:
  • Ability to communicate with other employees in a professional manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced excel experience preferred.
  • Must be able to multitask with a significant amount of detailed information in an accurate, timely and confident manner.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to interact with customers, peers, and other internal departments in a professional manner.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving mindset.
  • May be required to work earlier or later than a normal workday during acquisitions or peak seasons.
