Role Overview:

This is a working supervisor role in a small warehouse with daily responsibility to oversee all incoming inventory receipts and outgoing order fulfillment. Manage team tools and supplies replenishment and ensure team adherence to processes. The role is required to be onsite 5 days a week at our US Headquarters/small warehouse located in Charlotte, NC.

Scope of Responsibility:

This position is responsible for the quality and efficiency of all warehouse functions including customer order fulfillment and shipment, receiving of incoming products/goods, inventory management and compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. The Warehouse Supervisor is also accountable for warehouse cleanliness and maintenance, shipping/freight vendor feedback, and compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the quality of work performed by Warehouse Associates to meet team objectives on customer order fulfillment process (shipping), receiving and inventory tracking.
  • Management of warehouse daily workload including assignment of Warehouse Associates to receipt processing, storage of incoming goods and order fulfillment based on day to day needs.
  • Report work quality results and concerns to Supply Chain Manager.
  • Management of daily Cycle Count Program to drive inventory accuracy to ensure ERP system and physical inventory are aligned and 100% accurate.
  • Review inventory discrepancies flagged during the cycle counting and perform root-cause analysis on inventory discrepancies.
  • Oversight and leadership of warehouse associates to ensure personal workspace and warehouse space meet established 5S procedures and standards.
  • Hold Warehouse personnel responsible for compliance with all applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the on-board training of new hires in the Warehouse Department.
  • Re-train, coach, and develop current associates in areas of job performance improvement.
  • Ensure Warehouse Associates are adhering to their set schedule (Start time, lunch breaks, and end-time).
  • Work with customer service, accounts receivable and purchasing to resolve issues related to customer order fulfillment or inventory tracking.
  • Prepare orders for domestic and international shipment utilizing UPS Worldwide/FEDEX and other freight vendors and business systems.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service Supervisor and Customer Service representatives to meet demands for expedited shipments.
  • Oversight of Warehouse Associates to ensure adherence to all warehouse processes and documentation requirements.
  • In accordance with OSHA guidelines ensure the forklift safety checklist is being filled out properly and fully each day the lift is used.
  • Maintain tools and equipment ensuring the proper quantities are on hand (box cutters, tape dispensers, boxes, and other shipping supplies used to make shipments).
  • Work on special projects and other duties as needed.

Skill Requirements/Education/Experience Required:
  • Ability to complete the entire order fulfilment process from picking list generation through picking of goods, packing of goods for transit, labeling and shipment processing within ERP system.
  • Ability to onboard and train new Warehouse Associates on all warehouse functions.
  • Ability to utilize ERP system and related warehouse documentation to investigate any stocking or order fulfillment issues to determine root-cause and take necessary corrective actions.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a distribution warehouse setting (minimum 5 years).
  • At least 3 years of experience in a group leader or supervisor role within warehouse setting.
  • Requires prior experience working within a continuous improvement environment, leadership of process improvement a strong plus.
  • Strong detail-orientation; ability to perform quality checks on the work of others.
  • Highly adaptable to changes in the work environment and ability to drive results in a face-paced, international environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory software and order processing systems. Proficiency in Office suite a plus. Dynamics Axapta experience a plus.
  • Strong experience utilizing UPS Worldship/FEDEX and other shipping systems.
  • Ability to manage daily warehouse functions independently, uses sound judgement when prioritizing tasks and escalating issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all levels within an organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong math aptitude with ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to quickly learn the range of Biotage products.
  • Minimum HS diploma or equivalent with preference toward applicable Associate degree or higher

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold (non-weather controlled environment) and extreme heat (non-weather environment). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
