Location Overview

Crown Cork & Seal of Effingham, South Carolina is a state-of-the-art facility that produces various size food cans with one of South Carolina's leading Food producers as a major client. We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our team. This is your opportunity to join Crown's global organization. We are currently looking for Forklift Operators.

Position Overview

This position will alternate in assisting with shipping and receiving and operating manufacturing line equipment. This position reports directly to the Warehouse Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities-Essential Functions

  • Receive and unload trucks
  • Load trucks using the bill of lading as a guide
  • Scan materials and finished goods in and out of the plant with IBMi (AS400) software
  • Load machinery with the necessary resources to support production
  • Ensure pallets are ready for shipment and free of debris
  • Make sure pallets are labeled correctly with corresponding tickets
  • Report any quality concerns to the quality team
  • Contribute to the organization and cleanliness of the plant through daily, weekly, and monthly SQF practices
  • Adhere to all food safety procedures and measures
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
Job Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in forklift operation
  • Ability to work 1stor 2ndshift

Preferred requirements

  • Previous experience in manufacturing

Required Knowledge

  • Inventory: Knowledge of general procedures for inventory management
  • Safety: General knowledge of operating safely on applicable machinery to include forklift operation and lockout-tagout

Required Skills

  • Computer use: Use of computer software to include scanning materials onto outgoing trucks and printing appropriate pallet tags
  • Customer Service: Display customer needs assessment and meet quality standards for service
  • Time Management: Prioritize duties to most efficiently accomplish tasks and maintain productivity

Required Abilities

  • Communication: Ability to read and write English and interpret spoken direction
  • Organization: Ability to maintain an organized work area

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional kneeling/crouching required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Frequent sitting for extended periods
  • Frequent standing for extended periods

Environmental Exposures

  • Operating machinery produces at least 85 decibels (dB) of noise.
  • The industrial duties of this position may expose the employee to odors, wetness, dirt, and dust.
